About Me

Having been born and raised in Southern California, I have always been inspired by the environment and lifestyle around me. I grew up spending my free days at the beach and in the surf. Family and scouting camping trips would involve a short drive to either the Sierra Nevada mountains, Transverse Ranges, or out to the high desert. It only makes sense that the direction I point my camera in involves those subjects.

Though I’m positive about the direction in which my art is going, I remain to be my toughest critic. I’m constantly looking for opportunity to learn something new and improve. I will never settle and the reason why is simply because I enjoy it. I enjoy the process and the work that goes in. I value the lessons that come from a challenging shoot with difficult conditions. Maybe it came with maturity or some internal realization, but I have learned over time to slow down and to value the experience more than the resulting image. Sometimes things do not go according to plan and that is ok. It only means one has to get back out, get cold, get wet, covered in dirt or sand, and try again.

When I’m not pursuing photography I like to stay active. I’m a regular in the gym, rock climbing, hiking, camping, or trying to get in a road or trail run. I’m also passionate about the environment and conservation and am hoping to incorporate that in my work in the near future.
